Sidelined by a sinus infection

Soooo...I meant to run Monday. Really I did. I woke up in the morning and heard the rain and decided 5 am might not go well with rain. One or the other is fine, but both? I'm not in training yo. Then by the time I got home from work, I had a sinus infection that was not only in my left nostril but had migrated to my left eye as well. And it was pouring with thunder and lightning. Soooo running was out of the question. I worked my arms and abs while watching tv and took some medication and passed out.

Woke up this morning with both eyes watering and my right nostril stuffed up. The idea of running made me want to cry. I decided sleep might be a better choice for me and am hoping that this afternoon I will feel a little better and want to run.

Feel sorry for me yet? I wish I looked this cute while sick.

Good news- Yesterday I was weighing in at a hefty (for me, using negative words like that is going to keep me from eating shit today) 162.4. Slowly creeping back up to 175. Today, I weigh in at 160.4. Might have something to do with my food choices yesterday but also the weight work I did.

So tell me what you do when you're feeling sickly but need/want to run? Do you give it a shot? Do you walk? Do you take a rest day?

Off the Wagon

Not the alcoholic wagon (you'd have to get on that one to fall off)...but the health kick I was on came to an end last week due to a combination of things- a creepo hitting on me, a busy schedule and not feeling so well combined to just derail my focus. And in the process my progress.

I'm back up to 161 from 155 and I'm depressed about it.

Nothing like hopping on the scale to kick your ass back into gear though. I'm readjusting my schedule for a bit (see ya 5 am workouts) until I feel more comfortable about hitting the gym. The guy is seriously a weirdo and I do not want to encourage him to spend any time looking in my direction. Hopefully an early morning sabbatical will encourage him to look elsewhere. I may even pick up those weightlifting classes since the 5 am workouts won't be an option anymore.

The food is my biggest issue but this week I will get back on cooking for myself every day. I started tonight by making a boca burger with a side of potatoes. Lately I've been hungry every hour or so which is freaking me out but I'm not sure what to do about it except eat. Rather than reaching for something completely unhealthy, I made myself a salad.

Another thing I think hurting me was the bread. AGAIN. As soon as I was able to eat it, I was shoveling it into my mouth. I need to continue on the Lent path and just steer clear of it. It's like a drug for me. Once I have some I just cannot stop craving it. There is no balance for me at this point with bread so for now, I just need to cut it from my diet until I feel ready to incorporate it in a healthy way (bye pizza, pasta, bagels and subs...)

So, with that being said, I'm hoping back on the workout train with a 30 minute run tonight per my Team Challenge training. Tomorrow will be a 4 mile run. Wish me luck!

Also, song of the week, getting me pumped up (thanks to hearing it/ dancing it at a wedding) is Soulja Boy Tell 'Em's Crank That. Just watched a video of Knowshon doing the dance at the UGA-Auburn 2007 football game and it has me all pumped for my run.

Not Strep!

Weight: 165.2
Workout: None
Food Diary:
breakfast- eggs with pico de gallo and hot sauce, wheat english muffin with butter and grapefruit juice
snack- strawberries
snack 2- crackers with pepper cheese
Lots of ginger ale
Dinner- pasta with tomato basil sauce, chicken and feta cheese

I'm still sick but the good news is it is not strep! My mom's friend is a nurse and came by and performed a stress test and took a look down my throat. Her conclusion is that I have some kind of congestion (despite the lack of s stuffed nose) that has backed into my ear and throat instead of coming down the normal channel. You know they are all connected blah blah blah. She gave me pain killers for the ear and told me to continue taking cold medicine. In other news, I felt so terrible yesterday I failed to notice I had taken night time medication in the am until I was sitting in traffic on 85 half asleep. Sweet move. Also, she said rest was the best thing I could do for it but that I should be able to work out today! Thank god, I feel and look like a fat cow right now.
